Text Communities
Verizon Wireless Communities is an easy, wireless service connecting you to your friends, your interests, the world - whenever and wherever. With Communities, your mobile phone is more than a phone. You can use it to send text to groups and individuals, and you can get up-to-the-second information on the events, places, and people you're interested in.
To set up a group shortcut on your phone
- Visit vtext.com, go to Text PLAY and click on IM & Chat. Click on the Text Communities on the page; you will be required to sign in.
- Select Send me a shortcut on the group detail page.
- You will receive a shortcut text message.
- On your phone, either save that shortcut message in your inbox, or store the number that it came from in your phonebook (just like a normal phone number), preferably with the group's name.
Now you can use that shortcut whenever you want to send a group message.
To send a message to a group with a shortcut saved in your inbox
- Find the original group shortcut text message.
- Select Reply.
- Compose a 120 character (or less) message.
- Select OK or Send.
To add a member's shortcut on your phone
When you receive a message from another member, either directly to you or a group, it comes from a number. That number is the member's shortcut. On your phone, either save that message in your inbox, or store the shortcut number that it came from in your phonebook (just like a phone number), preferably with the member's name. Now you can use that shortcut whenever you want to send a message to that member.
