Calling Features: International Dialing

Back to previous page

Description

International Dialing allows you to direct-dial international calls to many countries from your wireless phone, provided you are on a calling plan that allows it. In some markets, you may have to contact Customer Service and specifically request to be able to dial internationally. Prepay customers can also direct-dial international calls to many countries from their wireless phone.

Direct-dial international calling to some countries may be restricted due to a variety of reasons. However, you may always place an international call from your wireless phone using a calling card.

If you only call outside the U.S. occasionally, you can pay per minute. If you call frequently, you should sign up for the Verizon Wireless International Long Distance Value Plan.

How to Get It

To add International Dialing to your account or to order the International Long Distance Value Plan, call Customer Service at (800) 922-0204.

Even if you don't add International Dialing to your calling plan, you will still be able to direct dial international locations that support the North American 10-digit dialing pattern. International Long Distance Rates will apply to such calls.

How to Use It

Direct-dial international calls are placed in a similar manner to domestic long distance calls. An international phone number is generally made up of a country code, a city and the local exchanged number.

To Place a Call Outside of the U.S.

  1. Dial 011.
  2. Dial the country code.
  3. Dial the phone number you wish to reach.

Example: To call a number in France, first dial the International Dialing prefix of "011", then dial the country code "33", then dial the phone number and then press SEND.

Country codes are available on the International Long Distance page, or in the information pages of your local telephone directory.
