Description
There are three types of equipment protection available: Extended Warranty, Asurion’s Wireless Phone Protection and Total Equipment Coverage. The monthly fees for these services are charged directly to your Verizon Wireless bill.
Extended Warranty* provides convenient coverage against any mechanical or electrical malfunctions and manufacturer defects after the manufacturer's warranty expires. The customer receives the same model (reconditioned) as the customer’s defective device, or if the same model is not available – a comparable model. The cost is $1.99 monthly per device.
Asurion Wireless Phone Protection** Asurion, a third-party licensed insurance agency, provides insurance coverage for your wireless device and certain standard accessories. If your device is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged (including liquid and physical damage), you may file your claim with the insurance agency within 60 days of the incident and the device will be replaced upon claim approval. - Premium: $4.99 per month per covered device.
- Deductible: $50 non-refundable deductible per completed claim.
- Claim Limits: 2 Claims in a 12-month period (In New York, 2 claim limit is per policy year) with an equipment maximum of $1500 per completed claim.
- Asurion may fulfill claims with new or refurbished equipment. In general, claims are fulfilled with the same make and model you claim. If this is not possible, a like-kind make and model will be substituted. Color, feature and accessory compatibility are not guaranteed.
- Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your coverage at any time and receive a pro-rated refund of your unused premium.
Total Equipment Coverage* offers complete protection for your wireless equipment. It combines the benefits of Asurion’s Wireless Phone Protection** (described above) with the discounted Verizon Wireless Extended Warranty program. If your device or covered accessories are inoperable for any reason-lost, stolen, accidentally damaged, or malfunctioning-you are covered. Cost is $5.99 per month per covered device with a $50 non-refundable deductible for each completed insurance claim.
*Total Equipment Coverage and Extended Warranty not available in Florida.
**Florida customers receive extended warranty coverage under the Wireless Phone Protection policy.
How to Get It
For any of these programs, Verizon Wireless customers can only enroll within 15 days of the following:
- New account activation with new equipment.
- Upgrade with new equipment purchase.
To enroll in the Asurion Wireless Phone Protection program, customers should call Asurion at (888) 881-2622 or to enroll in any of these programs, customers should contact Verizon Wireless Customer Service at (800)922-0204 or visit any Verizon Wireless retail store location.
How to Use It
Extended Warranty:
If you are enrolled in either the Extended Warranty or the Total Equipment Coverage program, call (866) 406-5154 (toll free from a landline phone) and we'll diagnose the issue with you right over the phone. You may also visit any Verizon Wireless store to diagnose and address the problem with your wireless device.
Asurion Wireless Phone Protection:
- First - If your equipment is lost or stolen, call Verizon Wireless Customer Service immediately at (800)922-0204 to suspend your service.
- Next - contact Asurion to file your insurance claim at Asurion's Website or contact Asurion Customer Service at (888) 881-2622.
