When Wi-Fi is turned on, what do the different services under the Network Card stand for?
When Wi-Fi is turned on, the Wireless tab is created and two tabs will display - Wireless and Network Adapters. When Wi-Fi is turned off, only the Network Adapters tab will display.
Wireless Tab - Shows active access points in the surrounding area and access points connection history list (an X by any Access Point in the history list indicates it is not available/present at this time). It's here that you can also set the security establishment by tapping the desired Access Point name.
Network Adapters Tab - Allows you to wireless connect to the The Internet (proxy server setting) or to corporate databases by choosing the Work menu. If you want to change the IP address mode (DHCP or static), tap the MITs Wi-Fi. You can also modify the settings for the following adapters.
MITs Wi-Fi - This driver is responsible for IP address and Name server settings using the built-in Samsung Wi-Fi module
- AsyncMAC - The AsyncMAC miniport driver is responsible for sending and receiving packets, performing asynchronous framing, as well as managing Telephony API (TAPI) devices.
- PPTP - is a network protocol that implements a security infrastructure for the transfer of data from a remote client to a private enterprise server, thus creating a virtual private network (VPN) by using TCP/IP-based data networks.
- L2TP - The Layer Two Tunneling Protocol (L2TP)/IP Security Protocol (IPSec) implementation in Microsoft® Windows® CE enables a more secure virtual private network (VPN) client connection from a Windows CE-based device to a corporate server.
